WLTW: 04/21 - 04/27
Every Friday on Instagram Live I host WLTW - or What I Learned This Week. It’s a fun way to share little bits of info that I picked up and to hear what you learned too. You can also leave us a nugget that you picked up this week in the comments below.
Here’s what I learned this week:
Slow Down to Move Faster.
This is an improv tenet that my husband, Rob Schiffmann is always saying. It's about allowing your brain to slow down so that it can be more efficient. I have been hitting it really hard the past few days playing catch up from some trips and events that I've been working on. When I've slowed down and gotten more mindful in what I'm doing my stress level has plummeted and my productivity has increased.
If you'd like to learn about how improv can help you, Rob has classes starting up next week that you can register for. Check it out.
Starting at 1
You know when you are learning a piece of music and you go through each of the individual parts of it but then eventually you have to start at measure 1? That's what I realized this week. Events and trips got me out of my office/laboratory and off my rhythm. Working hard to get back into the rhythm versus saying, "forget it, I'm just off" is a choice. And I learned the value in it this week.
The Methods Change, The Lessons Don't
I'm reading a book, The Ultimate Sales Machine which was written over ten years ago. Yes, there are LOTS of aspects to this book that are out dated. The core lessons, though, are still worthwhile. One of my favorite takeaways? Don't talk about how great your product is, gives stats that illustrate about the problem that your product solves.
