Each Friday Annie Schiffmann hosts What I Learned This Week an Instagram Live show to find out what artists have learned about promoting their work on social media. This week: using music in your Instagram Stories and Dylan Mooney.
Music on Instagram
Just yesterday Instagram launched the ability to add lyrics to your Story. (Confession: we still haven’t figured out how to do it , but here are some directions for you to try). For quite some time now music has been a part of IG Stories and we are paying attention.
It has got us thinking even more about music. IG has a Spotify integration which is a great way to share songs to your Story and with your followers. Couple that with a Spotify account where you can create playlists for your brand and now you can start to have even more fun.
If you are a musician or you are making a musical, this info should be really helpful to you!
Dylan Mooney, CEO of Actor Trade
Dylan Mooney started the app Actor Trade so that other actors could trade their time in self taping, reading, and rehearsing together. An app like that relies on community, and Dylan has leaned heavily on social media to not only bring people to his app, but to get them active on there as well.
Dylan talked about the value of placing small social media ads - up to $20 at a time - in order to get more people to see his content. He especially had great success on Instagram Stories. He found that this small amount of ad spend helped to quintuple the amount of video views that he was getting on his website.
