Not Everyone Will Follow
You know what? Everyone wants a few more followers, no matter how many followers they have. So just realize that's never going to go away. It's kind of like money that way. And it's not useful. So pining for money and followers and thinking that you don't have enough is wasted energy. Just go create.
Break It Down
We're revamping the Downstage Media website and are all about clarity. Reading the book Building a Storybrand (Yes, we keep talking about it) has helped us realize that if you want anyone to do anything you have to break it down into steps for them so it seems easy. So, if you want more comment on your new reel you could say:
Grateful that I have so much acting work I can put it into an actual REEL!

Same with you subscriptions at a theater company, or to have someone hire your improv group for corporate training. Break it down. Simplify. Clarify.
The Choosing Was Not
Sondheim has a lyric, "The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not." This came to mind after a bonehead move. We made a piece of content that was just not all that polished. And then when we hoped it would just coast down the social media river, unnoticed, someone that we really admire commented on it. Ack!
It's one thing to do a bad show, it's another to have someone you know is great and respect see it.
But, in retrospect, we did it. It happened. He saw it. It was good that we made that video. That helps us get better. Not doing the video because we would be afraid that it isn't good enough is the big mistake.
