Every Friday on Instagram Live I host WLTW - or What I Learned This Week. It’s a fun way to share little bits of info that I picked up and to hear what you learned too. You can also leave a nugget that you picked up this week in the comments below.
Here’s what I learned this week:
Story Structure with Your Posts
I'm listening to a great audio book called Building a Storybrand: Clarifying Your Message So Others Will Listen by Donald Miller. It's all about how to use story structure that you innately understand and applying that to emails, websites, and social media posts. I've especially done it with video this week to great results! They are definitely clearer and getting more views!
Greg Triggs on Listening to Create Melody
Greg Triggs, the emcee and producer of Broadway's Next Hit Musical joined me. Here's what he had to add:
The NYC run of Broadway's Next Hit Musical opened on May 17th. As normally we tour I don't often get to watch the show. This time I did, and it was wonderful. Robb Coles, one of the other emcees was in the show. Watching him slay it was a great reminder that comedy allows for so many different points of view. There's not one way to approach it. Come to the party. There's room for everyone!
A powerful lesson I wish more people knew.
Greg Triggs appears in Broadway's Next Hit Musical, which runs on Thursdays in May and June. Get discount tickets using the code PHONY20 at BroadwaysNextHitMusical.com.
Double Check Your Links
This week I was reminded how important it is to follow a checklist for when there are actions that you do repeatedly. Just like an airplane pilot has to check things over, you will too.
You don't want to have to send out that embarrassing email that starts with "Whooops!" It's unprofessional and feels awful.
I learned that I have to, HAVE TO check links before they go out in an email.
