Using Your IG Lives for More Vertical Video (like in IGTV)

Vertical video has been a big trend in 2018 and is proving to be one in 2019. But it can be tricky to shoot so much video in so many formats. So here’s how you can efficiently create and use vertical videos.

  • Start with your Instagram Lives (like this one).

  • SAVE it before you Share it to your Story*

  • Repurpose it for IGTV with a custom thumbnail and LOTS of metadata.

*Note: Instagram won’t let you Save if you have a guest on your Instagram Live, so I recommend playing you Instagram Live back and then recording your screen (iPhone has it built right in to the phone itself).

Director/Producer Wendy-Lane Bailey

Although Wendy-Lane has many different projects going on, her upcoming show Love, Loss, and What I Wore has taught her about the important of stories.

I’m learning that the best, the first, and the only question I ask myself - whether I’m acting, singing, directing or doing social media - is, “What’s the story?”

According to Bailey, people don’t connect with facts, they connect with stories.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is five actresses sharing stories and some of them are more intimate pieces. Bailey says that it’s so revolutionary for women to be onstage and to tell their stories as they are .
